- Component
- VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR:CRITICAL FASTENERS
- Problem
- Nova Bus (US) Inc. (Nova Bus) is recalling certain 2025 LFS and 2024 LFS Artic transit buses. Inadequate adhesion around the window frame may cause the glass to detach. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."
- Risk
- The glass can fall out of the frame, increasing the risk of ejection and injury during a crash. Detached window glass can also become a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Nova Bus will inspect and replace the glass as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed May 29, 2026. Owners will receive another notice once remedy becomes available. Owners may contact Nova Bus customer service at 1-450-472-6410. Nova Bus' number for this recall is CR5877. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 25, 2026.
What this recall means for you
Certain 2025 LFS and 2024 LFS Artic transit buses may have inadequate adhesion around the window frame, so the glass can detach from the frame. These buses also do not meet federal standard FMVSS 217 for window retention and release.
If the glass falls out, it raises the risk of a passenger being ejected or injured during a crash, and loose glass can become a hazard to other vehicles on the road. Interim notification letters about the safety risk were mailed May 29, 2026.
The repair is free: Nova Bus will inspect and replace the glass as necessary. Owners will receive another notice once the remedy is available, and can contact Nova Bus customer service at 1-450-472-6410 (recall CR5877). Vehicles involved will be searchable by VIN on NHTSA.gov starting September 25, 2026; check your VIN for open recalls in the meantime.
