What this recall means for you
Certain hybrid SUVs may not produce enough warning sound when reversing, so the vehicle may not be sufficiently audible to pedestrians behind it. The sound output fails to meet federal minimum requirements for hybrid and electric vehicles.
Insufficient warning sound means pedestrians may not notice a reversing vehicle, which raises the risk of a collision and injury. Owners should be especially careful around people, children, and pets when backing up.
Authorized Toyota dealers will update the vehicle's software for the pedestrian warning sounds at no cost to you. Owner letters were mailed September 1, 2026. To check whether your vehicle is affected, enter your VIN at a recall lookup site or contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
