Volvo VNL (4) Recall 26V186: Brakes May Release Slowly, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 26V186, reported March 25, 2026, 222 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2025 and 2026 Volvo VNL trucks may have a service brake that takes longer than expected to release. The vehicles therefore do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121 for air brake systems. A delayed brake release can increase the risk of a crash.

Authorized Volvo dealers will install an additional brake valve and fittings in the service brake pneumatic plumbing. The repair is free of charge. Owner letters were mailed July 29, 2026. If you have questions, contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586, referencing recall RVXX2602.

You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your truck is affected.
