Storyteller Overland GXV Hilt Recall 26V183: Entry Steps May Extend While Driving, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 26V183, reported March 24, 2026, 74 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2024, 2025, and 2026 Storyteller Overland GXV Hilt recreational vehicles have an entry door position switch that may not make adequate contact to signal that the door is closed. As a result, the entry steps can deploy unexpectedly, including while the vehicle is in transit.

Steps extending while the vehicle is moving increase the risk of a crash. If you own one of these vehicles, stop using the entry steps and avoid driving with the steps deployed until the repair is made.

The remedy is free. Authorized dealers will install a ground signal to the door switch circuit at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 29, 2026. For questions, contact Storyteller customer service at 1-888-999-7442, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
