Hino NE7D Recall 26V175: Wrong U-bolt tightening steps in owner's manual may cause crash risk

NHTSA campaign 26V175, reported March 23, 2026, 661 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The owner's manual for these 2026 Hino trucks may contain incorrect instructions for retightening the U-bolts that secure the axle and leaf springs. Following the wrong guidance could lead to overtightening, which can cause the bolts to break.

If a U-bolt breaks, the axle and leaf springs can shift out of position, increasing the risk of a crash. Owners should not rely on the torque or retightening directions in the current manual until it has been replaced.

The manual replacement is free at an authorized Hino dealer. Owners who received a notification letter mailed April 9, 2026 can also contact Hino customer service at 1-248-699-9390, referencing recall M0490. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your truck is affected.
