Hyundai Palisade Recall 26V169: Third-Row Seat Belt Warning May Fail to Alert Unbelted Riders

NHTSA campaign 26V169, reported March 19, 2026, 46,787 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2026 Palisade and Palisade Hybrid vehicles with Limited or Calligraphy trim, the internal wiring in the third-row driver-side seat belt buckle may become damaged. This can cause the instrument panel to permanently show a belted third-row driver-side seat, even when the seat belt is not fastened.

Because the seat belt status indicator may not warn occupants that a belt is unfastened, a rider in that seat could be unrestrained without being alerted, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Dealers will install a wiring harness extension and replace the seat belt assembly if necessary, at no charge to owners. Owner notification letters began mailing May 8, 2026. You can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 (recall number 297), and you can check whether your VIN is involved by searching for open recalls at NHTSA.gov.
