IC Bus Cesb Recall 26V168: School Bus Body Panels May Separate in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 26V168, reported March 19, 2026, 2,874 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain IC Bus CESB and EVSB school buses may have body panel joints attached without sufficient epoxy coverage. As a result, the vehicles may not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 221, which governs school bus body joint strength.

If the body panels separate during a crash, the vehicle's structural integrity is reduced, which increases the risk of injury to occupants. Owners should take this seriously given the number of children who ride these buses.

The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the interior vertical joint and repair it as necessary. Owners received notification letters mailed May 4, 2026, and can contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825 (recall number 26504). You can also check whether your vehicle's VIN is involved by searching NHTSA.gov beginning May 11, 2026, and schedule the repair with an authorized dealer.
