Hyundai Palisade Recall 26V160: Rear Power Seats May Not Stop for a Person, Risking Trapping

NHTSA campaign 26V160, reported March 17, 2026, 61,307 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2026 Hyundai Palisade and Palisade Hybrid vehicles with the Limited or Calligraphy trim may have second- and third-row power seats that fail to detect a person. If someone is in the way during one-touch tilt-and-slide or automatic power fold-and-stow, the seat may keep moving.

This can trap a person, especially a child, in the rear seating area, which raises the risk of serious injury or death. Until the repair is done, owners should be careful when using the second- and third-row power seat functions, and children should not be in the rear seats or near the rear seating area during power-folding operation.

Hyundai will update the seat controller and the audio, visual, and navigation software, either over the air or at a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 14, 2026. For questions, contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 (recall number 296). Affected VINs will be searchable on NHTSA.gov starting March 19, 2026, so check your VIN for open recalls.
