Ford E-450 Recall 26V118: Backup alarm may fail, raising pedestrian crash risk

NHTSA campaign 26V118, reported March 3, 2026, 316 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The backup alarm connector on these vehicles can become loose and detach. When that happens, the alarm does not sound while the vehicle is reversing, so pedestrians and other drivers may not be warned that the vehicle is backing up. This increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Dealers will replace the exterior sound connector on the frame wiring harness at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed March 17, 2026. If you have questions, you can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 26S12.

You can check whether your vehicle is affected by entering its VIN in the recall lookup on NHTSA.gov, since VINs for this recall became searchable there on March 4, 2026. If your vehicle is involved, schedule the free repair with an authorized Ford dealer.
