Demers Ambulances FXP174 Recall 26V098: Seats may not stay secured in a crash, raising injury risk

NHTSA campaign 26V098, reported February 20, 2026, 7 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The floor of certain ambulances may not be strong enough to hold the seats in place during a crash. As a result, these vehicles do not meet federal seating system and seat belt anchorage safety standards. If a seat breaks loose or fails to hold its position, it may not properly restrain an occupant, which increases the risk of injury in a crash.

The manufacturer says the remedy is still being developed. According to the notice, all affected vehicles were repaired by June 22, 2026. If you own or ride in one of these ambulances, contact Braun Ambulances customer service at 1-800-363-7591 and reference Braun Ambulances recall number 2026-1 to confirm your vehicle's status and next steps.

As a general step, check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls, and keep in touch with the manufacturer for the repair details once they are released. The repair is free at an authorized dealer.
