RAM 1500 Recall 26V059: Trailer Lights and Trailer Brakes May Fail

NHTSA campaign 26V059, reported February 2, 2026, 456,287 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Jeep Wagoneer S, Jeep Cherokee, and Ram 1500 through 5500 trucks have a trailer tow module that was improperly designed. The trailer brake lights and turn signals may fail to illuminate, and the trailer brakes may fail.

When trailer lights do not work, other drivers may not see you braking or turning, which raises the risk of a crash. If the trailer brakes fail, your ability to slow or stop a loaded trailer is reduced, which also increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the trailer tow module free of charge. Owner notification letters began arriving March 17, 2026. You can call FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number 03D), and you can check your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA.gov.
