What this recall means for you
An improper weld on the rear impact guard may fail, causing the guard to detach from the trailer. The affected trailers therefore do not meet federal rear impact guard and rear impact protection standards (FMVSS 223 and 224).
A detached rear impact guard cannot help absorb the force of a crash from behind, which increases the risk of injury to people in the vehicle that strikes the trailer and to the occupants of the trailer's surroundings.
If you own an affected trailer, contact an authorized dealer to have the weld joint repaired at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed March 12, 2026, and you can also call East Trailers customer service at 1-574-295-7888. Check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your trailer is included.
