Altec AA55 Recall 25V909: Boom Can Lose Insulation, Risking Electric Shock

NHTSA campaign 25V909, reported December 23, 2025, 18 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A check valve meant to hold oil in the boom hoses may be missing on certain utility work trucks. Without it, a vacuum can form and reduce the upper boom's insulation, so the boom may conduct electricity.

The danger is electrical shock. An operator or anyone touching the vehicle could be injured or killed if the boom contacts a live power line. Owners should stop using the affected boom equipment if they suspect a problem and contact the manufacturer promptly.

Altec will send instructions on how to inspect the vehicle for the check valve and will install it where needed at no cost. Owners who received a notification letter dated February 10, 2026 can contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls as well.
