NHTSA campaign 25V901, reported December 19, 2025, 486 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The power steering pump in certain school buses may fail to start when the ignition is turned on, or it may shut down unexpectedly while driving. When this happens, the vehicle loses its power steering assist, which makes the bus harder to steer.

Losing power steering assist can increase the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this hazard, especially since these vehicles carry students.

The remedy is free. Authorized dealers will inspect the power steering pump and update its software as necessary. Owner notification letters were mailed February 18, 2026.
