Ford Expedition Recall 25V886: Shift warning may be too short; car can roll if left in gear

NHTSA campaign 25V886, reported December 18, 2025, 890 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2019 vehicles, the "Transmission Not In Park" warning message and its chime last for less time than intended. This affects vehicles that were previously repaired incorrectly under an earlier recall.

If the driver gets out without the transmission in Park, the vehicle can move unintentionally, which raises the risk of injury or a crash. The warning may not give the driver enough time to notice and correct the gear selection.

The remedy is free. Dealers will update the instrument cluster panel software at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed January 30, 2026. You can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 25C71), and check your VIN on NHTSA.gov, which will be searchable starting January 15, 2026.
