- Problem
- International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2026-2027 IC Bus CESB school buses. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured.
- Risk
- An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy
- Dealers will inspect and replace the retractors as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 16, 2026. Owners may contact International's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25526. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning February 9, 2026.
What this recall means for you
Certain 2026-2027 IC Bus CESB school buses may have wheelchair securement retractors that do not lock properly. If a wheelchair is not secured, it can move during transit, which raises the risk of injury to the wheelchair user and others on board.
Authorized dealers will inspect the wheelchair retractors and replace them as needed, at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed February 16, 2026.
