Kia Sportage Recall 25V874: Instrument Screen May Fail, Hiding Speed and Warning Lights

NHTSA campaign 25V874, reported December 17, 2025, 5,046 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023-2025 Kia Sportage Plug-In Hybrid vehicles and 2024-2025 Kia Sportage vehicles equipped with a 4.2-inch instrument panel screen and a Genuine Kia tow hitch harness accessory may have a software error that causes the screen to fail. These vehicles also do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101 for controls and displays.

If the screen fails, it may stop showing critical safety information such as the speedometer and warning lights. Without that information, a driver may not notice a problem or a speed change in time, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Kia will replace the tow hitch harness control module at no cost at an authorized dealer. Owner notification letters were mailed February 13, 2026. You can contact Kia Customer Service at 1-800-333-4542 with recall number SC359, and you can check whether your VIN is involved through NHTSA.gov, where recall VINs become searchable starting December 31, 2025.
