Suzuki DR-Z400S Recall 25V873: Brake Fluid Leak Can Reduce Stopping Power

NHTSA campaign 25V873, reported December 17, 2025, 3,003 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The reservoir tank cap fixing screws on these motorcycles may have been incorrectly tightened, which can allow brake fluid to leak. The motorcycles therefore do not meet federal motorcycle brake system requirements.

A brake fluid leak can reduce braking ability, increasing the distance needed to stop and the risk of a crash. If you own an affected motorcycle, have it inspected and repaired as soon as possible.

Authorized Suzuki dealers will tighten the screws free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 9, 2026. You can also contact Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934, and check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov for open recalls.
