- Problem
- Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2025-2027 Vision school buses. The wheelchair lift may have a missing support brace, causing the wheelchair lift to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 404, "Platform Lift Installations."
- Risk
- A wheelchair lift that fails increases the risk of injury.
- Remedy
- Blue Bird will install the missing support brace, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 4, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242.
What this recall means for you
Certain 2025-2027 Blue Bird Vision school and transit buses may be missing a support brace on the wheelchair lift. Without it, the lift can fail, which increases the risk of injury to riders using the lift. The vehicles also do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 404 for platform lift installations.
Blue Bird will install the missing support brace at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed February 4, 2026. If you own or operate one of these vehicles, contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 to arrange the repair, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
