Blue Bird Vision School Bus Recall 25V851: Wheelchair Restraints May Fail to Lock During Transit

NHTSA campaign 25V851, reported December 10, 2025, 310 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2026-2027 Blue Bird school buses equipped with QRT-Deluxe or QRT-Max wheelchair restraints may have retractors that do not lock. This can prevent a wheelchair from being properly secured inside the bus.

An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, which increases the risk of injury to the wheelchair user and others on board. Owners of affected buses should take this recall seriously and arrange the repair promptly.

Blue Bird will work with Q'Straint to inspect and replace the retractors as necessary, at no cost to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed January 29, 2026. Contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 for more information, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
