- Great Dane Trailers (Great Dane) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Champion trailers. The cylinder pin in the slide liftgate may be insufficiently lubricated, which can cause the pin to seize, resulting in lift gate failure.
- Risk
- A lift gate that fails during operation increases the risk of injury.
- Remedy
- Great Dane will work with Hiab to replace the lift gate cylinder pins, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 28, 2026. Owners may contact Great Dane's customer service at 1-877-369-3493.
What this recall means for you
Certain 2024-2025 Great Dane Champion trailers may have a cylinder pin in the slide liftgate that was not adequately lubricated. Over time the pin can seize, which may cause the liftgate to fail while it is in operation.
A liftgate that fails during use raises the risk of injury. If you own an affected trailer, you should have received an owner notification letter mailed January 28, 2026. The remedy is free: Great Dane, working with Hiab, will replace the liftgate cylinder pins at no cost to you. Contact Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493 to arrange the repair, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
