BMW X5 Recall 25V837: Passenger Air Bag May Not Deploy Properly in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 25V837, reported December 4, 2025, 25 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The instrument panel on certain new vehicles may have been manufactured incorrectly. This can prevent the passenger-side air bag from deploying properly.

An air bag that does not deploy properly can increase the risk of injury during a crash. Because the defect affects a safety restraint, owners should have this issue checked promptly.

Dealers will replace the instrument panel trim free of charge. These vehicles have not been sold from dealer inventory, so no owner letters will be mailed. Owners can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417, or check their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov, which became searchable for this recall on December 4, 2025.
