Altec LR8 Series Recall 25V820: Bolts May Fail, Risking Boom Separation From Truck Frame

NHTSA campaign 25V820, reported November 26, 2025, 14 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain vehicles have lockbolts on the shear plates that may have been improperly formed during assembly. The collar on these bolts may not be correctly shaped, which can cause the bolts to fail.

If a shear plate lockbolt fails, the elevator sub-base could separate from the truck frame, increasing the risk of injury. Owners should take this recall seriously and avoid relying on the affected equipment until it has been inspected.

The remedy is free. Altec will inspect the lockbolts and replace them as necessary at no cost. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 23, 2026. You can also contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832, and check your VIN for open recalls.
