- Problem
- Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2026 VNR (4) and 2024-2026 VNL (4) vehicles. The automatic high beams (AHB) may not switch to low beam headlights as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
- Risk
- High beam headlights that do not switch to low beam as intended can reduce visibility for oncoming traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- As an interim action, Volvo Trucks will update the vehicle software through an over-the-air (OTA) update to disable the AHB feature, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed June 1, 2026. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2511. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning November 19, 2025.
What this recall means for you
Certain Volvo VNL and VNR trucks may have an automatic high beam feature that does not switch to low beams as intended. Headlights left on high beam can dazzle oncoming drivers and reduce their visibility, which increases the risk of a crash. The vehicles also do not meet a federal lighting safety standard.
Volvo will send a software update over the air to disable the automatic high beam feature, at no cost to owners. Owner letters were mailed June 1, 2026. Until the update is installed, drivers should switch the high beams to low manually when approaching or following other vehicles.
To check whether your truck is included, enter your VIN on NHTSA.gov. You can also contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586 and reference recall number RVXX2511.
