BMW 328d Recall 25V700: Coolant Leak Can Cause Engine Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 25V700, reported October 15, 2025, 112 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A coolant leak inside the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler can allow coolant to mix with engine soot, producing smoldering particles that can melt the intake manifold. This creates a risk of fire.

An authorized BMW dealer will replace the EGR cooler, inspect and replace the intake manifold if needed, and clean the EGR pipe connecting the cooler to the manifold, all at no cost to you. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 5, 2025. You can also contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

You can check whether your vehicle is affected by entering your VIN on NHTSA.gov, where VINs involved in this recall will be searchable beginning December 5, 2025. This recall expands previous recall 21V907.
