BMW X6 Recall 25V671: Water Leak Can Cause Headlight Loss and Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 25V671, reported October 8, 2025, 3 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2026 BMW X4 and X6 vehicles may have a windshield that is not sealed properly. Water can then enter the power distribution box or electronic control unit, where it can damage electrical components.

This is dangerous because water inside these parts can cause headlights or door closing functions to stop working, which raises the risk of a crash. It can also cause an electrical short circuit, which may lead to a fire while the vehicle is parked or being driven.

An authorized BMW dealer will inspect the vehicle, reseal the windshield, and replace the vehicle control unit and wiring at no cost to you. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 21, 2025. You can also contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
