Chevrolet Equinox EV Recall 25V639: Pedestrian alert sound may be too quiet to warn people

NHTSA campaign 25V639, reported September 25, 2025, 23,700 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The pedestrian alert sound system may not produce a sufficient change in volume between the vehicle being stopped and moving at low speeds. As a result, the vehicle may not meet federal minimum sound requirements for electric and hybrid vehicles.

If the vehicle makes too little sound, pedestrians may not notice an approaching vehicle, which increases the risk of injury.

The repair is free. The vehicle's body control module software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air update. Owners were notified by mail beginning November 17, 2025, and can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Check your VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA website.
