New Flyer XE35 Recall 25V631: High-voltage battery can short and cause fire

What this recall means for you

The high-voltage traction battery in certain New Flyer XE35, XE40, and XE60 transit buses may develop a short circuit inside a battery module when charged to near or full capacity. A short circuit in a high-voltage battery increases the risk of a fire.

Until the recall repair is complete, owners are advised to park the bus outside and away from structures, and to avoid charging the vehicle above 75% capacity. New Flyer will replace the batteries free of charge. The campaign is being carried out in phases, and owners are notified as their phase begins; interim letters were mailed November 12, 2025, and a second letter will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners with questions can contact New Flyer customer service at 1-800-241-2947. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your bus is included.
