What this recall means for you
Certain 2025 and 2026 Fontaine forklift trailers may have the auto lift axle cables connected to the wrong ports. This can disable the anti-lock brake system, so the trailer may not brake as intended. The trailers do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121 for air brake systems.
Driving without a working anti-lock brake system raises the risk of a crash, because the trailer may not stop as expected, especially in emergency braking or on slippery roads. Owners should stop relying on the trailer's braking performance to the extent possible and arrange a repair promptly.
Fontaine Trailer will rewire the cable connections free of charge. Contact Fontaine Trailer customer service at 1-800-821-6535, option 5, to schedule the repair, and check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
