Forest River Rockwood Recall 25V538: Trailer Breakaway Switch Miswired, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 25V538, reported August 22, 2025, 7 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2026 Forest River Flagstaff and Rockwood recreational trailers have a breakaway switch that was wired to the wrong side of the battery disconnect switch. As a result, the breakaway switch does not work.

A breakaway switch is designed to apply the trailer's brakes if the trailer separates from the towing vehicle. Because it is inoperative, the risk of a crash increases.

Dealers will rewire the breakaway switch free of charge. All affected vehicles are on dealer lots, so owners should contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-8942 with recall number 10-1966, and check their VIN for open recalls.
