Freightliner Business Class M2 Recall 25V504: Steering Shaft Can Detach, Causing Loss of Steering

What this recall means for you

Welds on the intermediate steering shaft assembly may crack and fail. If that happens, the shaft can detach from the steering column, which can cause a loss of steering and raise the risk of a crash.

The remedy is free. Fontaine Modification Company will replace the intermediate steering shaft at no cost. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 3, 2025. Fontaine Modification Company (Fontaine Modification) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Freightliner Business Class M2 vehicles. Welds may crack and fail, allowing the Intermediate steering shaft assembly to detach from the steering column.
Risk
A steering shaft that detaches can result in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Fontaine Modification will replace the intermediate steering shaft, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 3, 2025. Owners may contact Fontaine Modification customer service at 1-800-366-8246.
