- Risk
- In an emergency, first responders may not receive notification of the crash or emergency location, increasing the risk of injury to riders.
- Remedy
- The electronic control unit software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed September 12, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
What this recall means for you
Certain 2025 BMW motorcycles equipped with the optional emergency call system (eCall) may have that system deactivated because of a software programming error. If the system is off, first responders may not be notified of a crash or told where you are, which could delay help and increase the risk of injury.
The fix is a software update to the electronic control unit. BMW will deliver it over the air or at an authorized dealer, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed September 12, 2025. You can also contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
Check your VIN for open recalls, and if your motorcycle has the emergency call option, confirm the update has been applied.
