What this recall means for you
Certain electric Mercedes-Benz vehicles have software in the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System that can produce an incorrect external warning sound while the vehicle is reversing. Because of this, the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 141 for minimum sound requirements for hybrid electric vehicles.
A reversing vehicle that does not make the proper sound may fail to alert nearby pedestrians, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be especially careful when backing up in parking lots, driveways, or other areas where people are walking.
The repair is free. Dealers will update the AVAS software at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 1, 2025. You can contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2025070005. You can also check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
