IC Bus Cesb Recall 25V323: Bus Can Move While Wheelchair Lift Is Deployed

NHTSA campaign 25V323, reported May 15, 2025, 7 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2025-2026 IC Bus CESB school buses have a parking brake that can be released while the wheelchair platform lift is deployed. This means the bus can move while the lift is in operation, which fails to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 403 for platform lift systems.

A bus that moves while the lift is in use raises the risk of injury to passengers, lift operators, and people nearby. Owners should stop using the wheelchair lift on an affected bus until the repair is completed.

Dealers will replace the dash electronic control unit (DECU) module free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 16, 2025. Owners can contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825 (recall number 25506), and should check their VIN for open recalls.
