Forest River Salem Recall 25V245: Removable Trailer Steps May Detach During Use

NHTSA campaign 25V245, reported April 14, 2025, 4,179 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2024-2025 fifth wheel and travel trailers equipped with a removable step assembly may have a clip-on bracket whose mounting bolts can loosen over time. If the bolts come loose, the steps can detach while someone is using them.

Steps that detach while in use increase the risk of injury from falls. Owners should avoid relying on the steps until the trailer has been checked, and should contact the manufacturer's customer service line listed for their model if they have questions.

Authorized dealers will inspect the clip-on bracket and repair or replace it as needed, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 28, 2025. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your trailer is affected.
