Volvo VNL (4) Recall 25V214: Hazard switch may go dark, making it hard to find in an emergency

NHTSA campaign 25V214, reported April 8, 2025, 5,257 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The backlighting for the hazard warning flasher switch on certain 2023-2026 Volvo VNL trucks may stop working. The switch then is not illuminated and may be difficult to locate when needed. This does not meet federal safety standard FMVSS 101 for controls and displays.

An unlit hazard switch can be hard to find in a sudden emergency, such as at night or when visibility is poor. Being unable to quickly activate the hazard lights could increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Dealers will update the vehicle master control unit (VMCU) software at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed April 25, 2025. To check whether your truck is affected, or to ask about the repair, contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586 and reference recall RVXX2503. You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
