Autocar Legend Recall 25V209: Brake Air Tanks May Be Too Small, Stopping Distance Could Increase

NHTSA campaign 25V209, reported April 3, 2025, 5 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2023-2024 Autocar Legend trucks may have air tanks that do not hold enough compressed air for the brake system. The vehicles do not meet federal Air Brake Systems safety requirements. With too little air in reserve, the brakes may not work as well, so the vehicle may need a longer distance to stop, which raises the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected vehicle, the repair is free. Dealers will inspect the air system and replace or add air tanks as needed. Autocar reports that all vehicles were repaired by May 23, 2025. You can contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611 and reference recall number DC-2504, or check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.

Until the repair is confirmed, be aware that your stopping distance may be longer than usual, and allow extra room when braking.
