Ford Transit Connect Recall 25V196: Engine Can Overheat and Cause a Fire in Transit Connect

NHTSA campaign 25V196, reported March 28, 2025, 152 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2019 and 2020 Ford Transit Connect vehicles were previously repaired under an earlier recall, but that repair was done incorrectly. The powertrain control module software contains fail-safe temperature threshold values set higher than intended for the engine. As a result, engine cooling may be delayed, allowing the engine to overheat.

An overheating engine increases the risk of a fire. Owners should take this recall seriously and have their vehicle checked promptly.

An authorized Ford dealer will update the powertrain control module software at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed April 21, 2025. You can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 25S32), and check your VIN for open recalls.
