IC Bus Cesb Recall 25V176: Low beams can shut off when high beams are on, cutting visibility

NHTSA campaign 25V176, reported March 20, 2025, 6,988 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2025 and 2026 IC Bus CESB school buses have halogen headlights that can turn off the low beams when the high beams are activated. The buses therefore do not meet the federal lighting standard for headlights (FMVSS 108).

When low-beam headlights fail, the driver has less visibility at night or in poor weather, which raises the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the body control module (BCM) software at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed April 28, 2025. To check whether your vehicle is affected, enter your VIN at the NHTSA recall lookup, or contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825 (International recall number 25502).
