Forest River Nightfall Recall 25V162: Trailer Brakes May Fail to Activate in an Emergency

NHTSA campaign 25V162, reported March 14, 2025, 120 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The breakaway switch on certain trailers may be wired incorrectly. If the trailer separates from the towing vehicle, the switch may fail to activate the trailer brakes during that emergency.

Trailer brakes that do not activate increase the risk of a crash. Owners should not wait to have this checked if their trailer is affected.

Authorized dealers will rewire the breakaway switch free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 27, 2025. You can also contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0432, referencing recall 45-1909, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
