Ford Maverick Recall 25V124: Brake lights may light up without braking

NHTSA campaign 25V124, reported February 28, 2025, 141 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2022 Ford Maverick vehicles that were previously repaired incorrectly under an earlier recall, the Antilock Brake System (ABS) module can cause the brake lights to come on even when the driver is not pressing the brake pedal. This means the vehicle does not meet federal lighting requirements.

Because the brake lights can illuminate unexpectedly, other drivers may be confused about what your vehicle is doing, which could increase the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. Dealers will update the software in the ABS module at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 14, 2025. You can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
