- Problem
- Orange EV is recalling certain 2023-2024 HUSK-e XP terminal trucks. The rear Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) on the federal placard is incorrect and the installed tires and rims may be inadequate for the truck's intended use. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120, "Wheels and Rims - Other Than Passenger Cars."
- Risk
- An incorrect GAWR and an inadequate tire and rim combination can lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- OEV will replace the federal placard, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 18, 2025. Owners may contact Orange EV customer service at 1-866-688-5223.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-888-275-9171), or go to www.safercar.gov.
What this recall means for you
The federal certification label on these terminal trucks lists an incorrect rear Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR). The installed tires and rims may also not be adequate for the truck's intended use, meaning the vehicle does not fully meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 120 for wheels and rims.
Because the rear axle rating on the label is wrong and the tire and rim combination may be insufficient, the truck could be unintentionally overloaded. Overloading increases the risk of a crash.
Owners will receive a free replacement federal placard from Orange EV. Notification letters were mailed August 18, 2025. For questions, contact Orange EV customer service at 1-866-688-5223, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
