Kia EV9 Recall 25V115: Loss of Drive Power Can Raise Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 25V115, reported February 24, 2025, 342 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2025 Kia EV9 vehicles may have a rear gear drive unit (GDU) motor shaft that was improperly welded. Over time, the shaft can become damaged, and the vehicle may lose drive power.

A sudden loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash, especially when merging, passing, or driving at highway speeds. If you own a 2025 EV9, check your VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA or Kia website and watch for any loss of drive power.

Dealers will replace the rear GDU free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 7, 2025. To ask questions, contact Kia customer service at 800-333-4542 and reference recall SC337.
