Nissan Kicks Recall 24V969: Kicks May Roll Away if Shut Off Outside Park

NHTSA campaign 24V969, reported December 23, 2024, 89 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2025 Nissan Kicks may not give the "Shift-to-Park" warning when the vehicle is turned off while still in a gear other than Park. The body control module, which controls this warning, may not activate as intended, so the vehicle does not meet federal rollaway prevention requirements.

If the vehicle is not in Park when the ignition is shut off, it could move unexpectedly. This increases the risk of a rollaway and a crash.

An authorized Nissan dealer will reconfigure the body control module so the Shift-to-Park warning activates, at no cost to you. Some owner letters were mailed January 29, 2025, and the rest are expected to be mailed around May 7, 2025. You can also contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 (recall PMA42), and check your VIN for open recalls.
