Chevrolet Equinox EV Recall 24V925: EV Warning Sound May Be Too Quiet for Pedestrians

NHTSA campaign 24V925, reported December 12, 2024, 7,606 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2025 electric SUVs may have outdated software in the body control module that controls the pedestrian alert sound. As a result, the sound may not play at the required volume, so pedestrians may not notice the vehicle approaching.

A vehicle that is not loud enough can go unnoticed by people walking nearby, which raises the risk of a pedestrian injury. The vehicles in this recall do not meet the federal minimum sound requirements for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Dealers will update the body control module software at no cost to you. Owner letters were mailed January 21, 2025. You can also contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and check your VIN for open recalls.
