Keystone Cougar Recall 24V899: Fifth-Wheel Pin Box Bolts May Loosen, Trailer Can Detach

NHTSA campaign 24V899, reported November 27, 2024, 303 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain trailers have a fifth-wheel pin box whose fasteners may not have been tightened properly at the factory. Over time these fasteners can loosen and fall out, which allows the towed trailer to separate from the pin box while in use.

If the trailer detaches from the towing vehicle, it can cause a crash, so owners of affected trailers should take this recall seriously. The repair is free: an authorized dealer will tighten the pin box fasteners at no cost. Owners who received a notification letter mailed December 10, 2025 can contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. You can also check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your trailer is affected.
