Micro Bird CT-Series Recall 24V842: Locked rear emergency door can trap passengers

NHTSA campaign 24V842, reported November 7, 2024, 13 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023 CT-Series vehicles have an anti-vandal lock on the rear emergency door that may not be properly linked to the ignition. The vehicle can start while that rear emergency door is locked, which means the vehicle may be running with the emergency exit unavailable. The vehicle also fails to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 217 for bus emergency exits and window retention and release.

A locked emergency exit can prevent or delay occupants from getting out during an emergency such as a crash or fire, which increases the risk of injury.

Authorized dealers will repair the ignition interlock connection free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 30, 2024. You can contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012 and reference recall number 24-112-IUC. You should also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
