Micro Bird T-Series School Bus Recall 24V841: Bus Can Start With Rear Emergency Door Locked

NHTSA campaign 24V841, reported November 7, 2024, 424 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain school buses have an ignition interlock that may allow the engine to start while the rear emergency door is locked, even after the key has been inserted. This means the vehicle can be running with an emergency exit that is locked and does not meet federal bus emergency exit requirements.

A locked emergency exit can prevent or delay passengers from getting out during an emergency, which increases the risk of injury.

Owners should contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012 or take their bus to an authorized dealer. Dealers will repair the ignition interlock connection free of charge. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls at no cost.
