Rivian R1S Recall 24V827: Exterior lights may fail to turn on, reducing visibility

NHTSA campaign 24V827, reported November 1, 2024, 5,128 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2025 Rivian R1S and R1T vehicles running software version 2024.39.30 may not turn on certain exterior lights when the Car Costume feature is activated. The lights being switched off make the vehicle harder for other drivers to see.

Reduced visibility to other drivers increases the risk of a crash.

Rivian is providing a free over-the-air (OTA) software update to fix the problem. Owner notification letters were mailed December 18, 2024. Owners can contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261, and should check their VIN for open recalls.
