Ford Transit Recall 24V805: Rear Wheel May Lock Up or Separate From Axle

What this recall means for you

Incorrect bolts may have been used to attach the rear axle shaft on certain Ford Transit vehicles that were previously repaired under an earlier recall. The bolts can allow the rear wheel to lock up or separate from the axle shaft, and the vehicle may roll in park if the parking brake is not applied.

A rear wheel locking up or coming off the axle can cause loss of vehicle control or loss of drive power, and the vehicle may roll when parked. Any of these situations increases the risk of a crash.

The repair is free at an authorized Ford dealer. Dealers will inspect the rear axle shaft bolts, replace any incorrect bolts, and fill the differential fluid if needed. Owners who received a notification letter mailed December 13, 2024 can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall number 24S67). You can also check your VIN for open recalls.

Problem
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Ford Transit vehicles previously repaired under recall number 24V-102. Incorrect bolts may have been used to attach the rear axle shaft, which can lead to the rear wheel locking up or separating from the axle.
Risk
Rear wheel lock-up or separation of the wheel from the axle shaft can result in loss of vehicle control or loss of drive power. In addition, the vehicle may roll in park if the parking brake is not applied. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the rear axle shaft bolts, replace incorrect bolts as necessary, and fill the differential fluid if needed, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 13, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S67.
